The National Mature Media Awards® is the nation’s largest awards program of its kind. It annually recognizes the best marketing, communications, educational materials and programs for older adults. The competition is celebrating its 30th year in 2021.
The 9th Annual New Product & Technology Awards, organized by the Mature Market Resource Center [sm] (MMRC), recognizes innovative products, services, and technologies for older adults and their families. Being older means battling invisible barriers to being healthy, and too often, doing it alone. Many frail seniors struggle behind our neighborhood doors to get enough nutrients to stay healthy. Too many can’t afford healthy food, lose their appetite or the motivation to eat from loneliness, aren’t mobile enough to get to local stores, or may be physically unable to cook. Food insecurity and malnutrition means hunger for a senior, but it also means chronic disease and higher healthcare costs. Well-being is the most important factor contributing to quality of life and longevity. Meals on Wheels, Orange County helps frail seniors fight the good fight everyday! Di is proud to be a current Board Member of Meals on Wheels, Orange County.
Alzheimer’s Orange County (AlzOC®) provides support to Orange County families and individuals through brain health and dementia education, care consultations, community resource connections, Adult Day Health Services, residential memory care services, and more. What LIFE, CAMERA, ACTION! presents is less about revelation or education and more about refocusing on and recognizing what you very likely already know. It delightfully ignites enthusiasm for the wonderful stories you have seen on the silver screen. Just reading it encourages you to re-examine the lessons you have learned as you have traversed the journey of your years so life can be easier and just plain more fun!

“I co-founded Matters of the Heart Music with Bob Bennett in the early 1980s to inspire and encourage people through Contemporary Music.”
Wikipedia lists the album of the same name: “In January 1983, CCM Magazine named it "Album of the Year - 1982", beating Amy Grant’s Age to Age It was later named it as one of the "Top 20 Christian Albums of All Time" and listed at No. 65 in the book CCM Presents: The 100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music.
Debby and Pat Boone
Paul Bond, Hollywood Reporter: Forty years ago this summer (of 2017), Debby Boone set a record by topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 10 straight weeks with the title track of her first solo album, “You Light Up My Life,” which eventually became the biggest hit of the 1970s.
The singer will commemorate the occasion by performing the song on August 11th at the inaugural Season of Life® Conference, dubbed Icons of Aging, where she’ll sing on the same stage as her dad, Pat Boone, who will perform his hit song “Love Letters in the Sand,” which, 60 years ago this summer, spent five weeks as No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100.
While performing with her dad is rare, Debby Boone says she still sings “You Light Up My Life” regularly. “The lyrics are transcending,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “Couples use it as their wedding song, parents say it reminds them of their children, and some say it has a religious meaning for them.”
The mellow love song led to Debby Boone winning a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1977, but she acknowledges that she doesn’t relate to a lot of the music that is racking up Grammy wins nowadays.
“Times have changed. Songs that are hits now would never be hits in 1977. I remember driving my kids to school at 8 a.m. and hearing these really sexual lyrics,” she says. “But I don’t lament the good old days. I’m not a curmudgeon. My kids turned out great. Maybe I’ll be horrified all over again when my grandkids listen to those lyrics.”
Debby Boone, 60, and Pat Boone, 83, will be performing in La Mirada, Calif., on behalf of the Season of Life® Conference series founded by Gerontologist Di Patterson.
“I’m as healthy as I was at 20,” Pat Boone told THR. “Sure, I inherited good genes, but I’ve never trusted in just that. I’m looking forward to the event so my daughter and I can share our health secrets.”
Wikipedia says: Jerry Lewis was an American comedian, filmmaker, actor, humanitarian and singer. Nicknamed "The King of Comedy", he was widely known for his "kid" and "idiot" persona of the 1940s, 1950s and 60s. He was one-half of a highly famous comedy duo Martin and Lewis with singer Dean Martin from 1946 to 1956. In 1966 Lewis hosted his first annual Labor Day Weekend telethon for the MDA, and he continued hosting the telethon until 2010.
Max Rose - I am blessed to be the Consulting Gerontologist on Jerry Lewis’s final movie. From the website: “A jazz pianist makes a discovery days before the death of his wife that causes him to believe his sixty-five year marriage was a lie. He embarks on an exploration of his own past that brings him face to face with a menagerie of characters from a bygone era.”
